Ergonomics in the Workplace


As with all sciences, the study of ergonomics is believed to have started with individual evolution on its own. It has been a quest to find a natural fit between human beings and their tools. Just like prehistoric men produced tools to slip their needs, pertaining to hunting, consuming, sitting and sleeping. Over time tools were engineered with an understanding of how we us them and to help make it them better. As time has passed by engineers have developed tools that fit the humans need, in return they developed better chairs to get sitting, rugs for standing on, even autos have improved for with capacity of. Some people are not aware of what ergonomics is so this is the brief explanation. The term ergonomics came in the writings of (Wojciech Jastrzebowski, 1857). In the 19th century, Fredric Winslow Taylor introduced ‘Scientific Management' suggesting ways to increase productivity in factories. Ergonomics is a sophisticated science of your combination of physics, biology, mindset, engineering and design (Radoslaw, 2010). The meaning of ergonomics is the clinical discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a method, and the profession that is applicable theory, rules, data and methods to style in order to enhance human well-being and general system performance ( Intercontinental Ergonomics Affiliation, 2009 ). For us staff making sure that the machinery, tools, and pieces of furniture associated with a career fit the employees who do this job in a field of engineering referred to as ergonomics, or human executive. A properly designed workplace can easily reduce worker fatigue and increase security on the job (Compton's encyclopedia, 2009).


As soon as the 18th century, doctors noticed that workers whose jobs required those to maintain specific body positions for long periods of time developed musculoskeletal problems. Inevitably everyday work stress is common in all different types of employment, probably the most common function injuries that we have discovered is Carpal bones Tunnel and Tennis Elbow. How we work is anything we have all produced on our personal and now there is a variety of training tools out there for us to work with. I found an ergonomics example on the Dow Chemical Industry’s use of the " Half a dozen Sigma” Method on the U. S. Department of Labor. They stated that in 2002, ergonomics-related injuries made up a third coming from all workplace traumas involving missed work time, with a normal absence of seven days every injury. The resulting member of staff injury promises and loss of productivity are estimated to cost $13 to 20 dollars million per year for U. S. employers. Wow!
